Hemp Seed Oil – Omega-3 Fatty Acid Booster
New batch of hemp oil with a best before date of 09/30/2021 available now.
Hemp produces an oil seed that contains between 25-35 % oil by weight, which is high in essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are those which you must obtain from your diet because you cannot synthesize them in your body.
Hemp oil is an excellent food for the supply of EFAs, which are mainly linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and the rare gamma-linolenic acid. EFAs are needed for the production of numerous hormones, for cell renewal and to maintain a properly functioning immune system.
Hemp oil imparts a desired flavour into salad dressings, mayonnaise, dips and spreads. It is not suitable for frying and should be only used in its raw state.
It can also be used externally on the skin as it is easily absorbed and moisturizing, also suitable for poor skin condition.
Why we love Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp has a ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids which is ideal for humans. This optimum functional ratio is considered to be 4:1. Hardly any other single plant contains essential fatty acids in such perfect ratio for human bodies!
This is why the intake of hemp oil can help cure conditions (also) caused by deficiencies in both fatty acids, like poor skin, hair loss, suceptibility to infections and growth disorders.
The oil is more expensive, but it is easier for your body to extract and metabolize the EFAs in oil than in seeds. As EFAs are so important in our diet and as many of us have our bodies not working at their most efficient, we find it’s a good idea to have both, oil and seeds, in our daily diet.
SamaraNatura Hemp Seed Oil
SamaraNatura Hemp Oil is cold-pressed and unrefined. It has a light green colour and a nutty, grassy flavour. Our hemp seed oil is bottled in dark bottles, sealed and kept chilled to preserve all the amazing nutritional properties of the oil.
Please note that it is crucial that oils are pressed with a minimum of heat, because the higher the temperature of the oil the faster it is destroyed by light, oxygen and other chemical reactions. The shape and properties of fatty acid molecules can change with heat, lowering their nutritional and biological value.
Most oils available at supermarkets are refined and have been extracted at high temperature and by using solvents. They do not have the benefits left in them, but contain detrimental trans-fatty acids from hydrogenation.
Use
Since the oil should not be heated strongly, it is best used raw over cooked food. In the raw food kitchen hemp oil fits nicely with salad dressings, marinades, dips and even in smoothies. It can be used instead of or together with olive oil, walnut oil, and safflower oil.
The daily intake for a person with an average build/body fat profile can be 1-3 tablespoons (up to 50 ml) per day, or in the case of therapy this can be increased up to 150 ml per day for approx. 7 days, then reverting to the normal daily intake amount.
