Low-fat cocoa powder with 10-12% cocoa butter content (100% natural) Update:Due to the cocoa shortage, we do not receive 100% Criollo powder from our supplier. The new batch contains 70% Criollo cocoa (previously 100%). The remaining 30% are Forastero, Trinitario and Nacional. They are also high quality, certified organic and from Peru. This is whyour cocoa powder is temporarily called "Cocoa Powder Peru". In comparison, it has a slightly more intense flavour and is slightly bitter, but also very tasty. Why cocoa powder? Cocoa has all the benefits of chocolate, but without the undesirable high sugar content and additives. As a reminder: milk chocolate only has a cocoa content of around 25%. The rest is sugar, milk powder, soya lecithin (emulsifier) and flavourings. Effect of cocoa? Raw cocoa is very nutritious. It has been determined that raw cocoa contains around 300 substances. It also contains the happiness combination of serotonin, dopamine, anandamide and phenetylamine (PEA). Cocoa has the highest magnesium content of all foods, i.e. 314mg per 100g, which corresponds to 75% of the recommended daily intake. Magnesium is a component of bones and teeth, plays an important role in energy metabolism and is essential for normal muscle function and energy metabolism. Magnesium also plays a role in skeletal development and is important in the transmission of stimuli in the nervous system during muscle contraction. Origin of our cocoa powder? Our raw cocoa powder comes mainly from the Peruvian fine cocoa variety Criollo - one of the best fine cocoa varieties in the world - and has a delicious, full chocolate flavour. What makes our cocoa powder special? The Criollo variety tastes better and is less bitter than other cocoa varieties. This also reduces the need to balance out the bitter flavour with sweeteners. It is obtained from unroasted, merely fermented cocoa beans. Gentle processing at low temperatures optimally preserves both nutrients and flavour. Gentle processing for maximum flavour To produce the powder, the fermented, unroasted fine flavoured cocoa beans are first ground. The resulting dark brown, viscous cocoa mass is cold-pressed to form a cake, from which the liquid, golden-yellow cocoa butter slowly drains off. The remaining "cocoa press cake" is then dried, very finely ground and sieved. This process does not require any chemicals, additives or extraction solvents and produces a fine, soft powder with a full, wonderful chocolate flavour. The use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers is also completely avoided. Food with a long tradition The cocoa bean is an impressive foodstuff given to us by Mother Nature. It was considered a gift from God by the Aztecs and was used not only as an offering but also as a means of payment. Tips for everyday use Mix cocoa powder into your muesli, smoothies, (hot) milk drinks and protein shakes. And of course, this cocoa powder is an excellent ingredient for delicious chocolate creations and desserts. Size variations We offer cocoa powder in 250g, 500g and 1kg bags as standard. Carob powder - from the pods of the carob tree Carob is a legume that grows on the carob tree, a wild, evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean, and has been used as a sweetener and nutritious natural snack for thousands of years. Carob was well known to the ancient Greeks, who spread the seeds of this plant in Greece and Italy. Why consume carob powder? People who don't know much about carob think it's a healthy version of (high-sugar, high-fat) chocolate, but it's so much more. We like to mix carob with raw cacao for a sweet and healthy treat, because cacao is high in magnesium and compared to cocoa, carob contains three times as much calcium, a third less calories and only 1% fat. Carob is naturally sweet and fewer sweeteners are needed when it is used in recipes. It has a low glycaemic index, is low in fat and exceptionally nutritious, rich in calcium, protein and fibre. What makes our carob powder special? Our organic carob powder from Spain is gently heated and ground for drying in order to preserve its flavour, colour and nutrients. Due to the drying process at well over 42° C, it is no longer raw food. Due to the different requirements, we offer carob powder in 2 different sizes: 250g and 500g. These can be selected at the top right under "Weight variants". Using carob in everyday life and for great recipes Use carob powder to sweeten dishes, in desserts, smoothies, sprinkled on your muesli, as an ingredient in raw chocolate and cakes as well as in quick and nutritious snacks. Organic barley grass juice powder, raw food grade (100% natural) Why barley grass juice powder? Barley grass juice powder is often described as the ultimate superfood powder! Our 100% pure barley grass juice powder (free from any additives – including those not subject to labelling requirements – or carriers such as maltodextrin) is a great and simple alternative to fresh barley grass, as not everyone has the time or inclination to grow fresh grass and juice it themselves. Simply mix it with water or your favourite liquid and you’ll have pure barley grass juice. What are the health benefits of barley grass juice powder? Barley grass juice contains many valuable vitamins and nutrients. The chlorophyll it contains also has a beneficial effect. What makes our barley grass juice powder special? For our organic barley grass juice powder, the juice is pressed from young barley grass and then gently processed into powder. It is 100% pure juice powder, without any additives or carriers such as maltodextrin. Our organic barley grass juice powder comes from an unspoilt region of the USA, where it is harvested at the peak of its nutrient density. The producer has optimised the processing method over many years and now guarantees raw food quality, meaning the entire process takes place at temperatures below 42°C. The rich green colour is a testament to its high chlorophyll (plant green) content. Differences between barley grass juice powder and barley grass powder The two forms of processing – grass powder and juice powder – each have their own advantages. The main difference between grass powder and juice powder lies in the dietary fibre content. In barley grass powder, this is a very high 35 to 40 per cent. Dietary fibre has a satiating effect, stimulates digestion and prevents constipation. This barley grass juice powder, on the other hand, contains only 5.7 per cent dietary fibre. As a result, the nutrients and vital substances (including chlorophyll) are present in a concentrated form. Another important difference lies in the taste. Whilst the grass powder tastes like dried grass (slightly bitter), this barley grass juice powder is characterised by flavours reminiscent of spinach and green herbs, as well as a salty aftertaste. Visually, the two varieties can be easily distinguished. The barley grass powder is a significantly lighter green than the barley grass juice powder. You can find all the information about barley grass powder here. Tips for incorporating barley grass juice powder into your daily diet Barley grass juice powder goes perfectly with water and many other liquids such as smoothies orange juice coconut water water kefir fresh fruit and vegetable juices Recipe with barley grass juice powder E.g.: Detox smoothie 1 tsp barley grass juice powder2 tbsp dried wild blueberries or 2 tbsp wild blueberry powder 1 tsp spirulina powder (Hawaii, Taiwan or Austria) 1 tbsp Atlantic dulse powder or 1 small handful of dulse flakes1 large bunch of fresh corianderJuice of 2 oranges 1 banana Water as required More recipes here. Recommended intake Start with ½ teaspoon daily, increasing to ½–1 teaspoon 2–3 times a day as required. Best taken half an hour before meals. Storage Store in a cool, dark and dry place. As barley grass juice powder is spray-dried, it clumps more quickly than barley grass powder, which is air-dried. Theclumping is caused by moisture absorption from the air. From our own experience, we recommend: always seal the packet airtight. Unfortunately, the zip on the bag tends to stick over time, which is why sealing clips are very handy. Transfer some of the powder into a jar with a screw-top lid for easier handling. Store the bags/jars in a kitchen cupboard (in the dark) as far away from the hob as possible (to avoid moisture from cooking). We advise against storing it in the fridge, as this would cause condensation. A consistent room temperature is ideal.
