Spirulina is a unicellular, filamentous blue-green alga and one of the first life forms on this planet. It is higher in protein than any other food, containing all 8 essential amino acids. It offers a wealth of vitamins, minerals and trace minerals, furthermore important antioxidants such as SOD und phycocyanin, polysaccharides as well as the rare essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid. Our Spirulina Pacifica has been grown in Hawaii for over 25 years and is considered one of the world's highest quality spirulina. Due to a special oxygen-free drying system more nutrients and enzymes are being preserved than is possible with common drying systems.

SamaraNatura Spirulina is called Spirulina Pacifica and is a select strain of Spirulina platensis developed over many years of continuous cultivation in Hawaii. Spirulina Pacifica has been extensively analysed by molecular biologists at the University of Hawaii, who identified unique enzymes not previously found in other strains of Spirulina platensis.
Spirulina Pacifica is cultured in shallow, open ponds (approx. 20 cm deep) adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. A combination of fresh water and supplemental deep ocean water is used to fill the ponds. The other major components required for growing Spirulina Pacifica are food-grade baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and carbon dioxide. Food grade fertilizers are used. Paddle wheels agitate the water, ensuring even exposure of the algae to the sun for optimal growth and nutritional value.
The Spirulina is being dried very gently in a special oxygen-free drying system preserving more nutrients and enzymes – e.g. over 40% more carotenoids like beta carotene and over 75% more Zeaxanthin - than with common drying systems.
This Hawaiian spirulina is pesticide and herbicide free, and does not contain any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Spirulina has a unique taste that blends well with almost everything although it may be difficult in the beginning for the ones that are not used to green tastes.
The most popular way to enjoy spirulina powder is to add it to fruit or vegetable juices in a blender. Spring water is an excellent way for maximum absorption. Spirulina can also be added to food as a condiment, as long as it is not overheated as the nutrients will be lost.
If there is a time of day when your energy runs low, take some spirulina with water and see how your body feels 1-2 hours later. You will be amazed.
We recommend to consistent users of spirulina to try the spirulina cleanse once every 2 weeks. This involves taking one day to cleanse and detoxify the body by consuming only spirulina and water, taking 10 grams every 2-3 hours during your day. Keep in mind that this day must be a 'quiet day' where you do not over exert yourself. This will be hugely beneficial to your body and you will feel amazing for the rest of your week.
There are no limits to the intake of this wonderful superfood as it is not a drug but a food, still the general recommended dose varies from 3 - 10 g daily. It’s advisable to start with 1 tsp. (5 g) or a little less and then build it gradually to 10 g (1 heaped tbsp.) to prevent any digestive disorder. Taking 1 tsp. one hour before meals can help satisfy your body's appetite.

We recommend the intake of spirulina together with chlorella in a 2:1 ratio (spirulina: chlorella). This assures having all the nutrients needed from the body in a balanced way.
The dry powder absorbs water from the air, so we recommend keeping the bag tightly sealed when not in use and in a cool, dry, dark place.
