Camelina oil organic

Product information "Camelina oil organic"

Organic camelina oil, cold-pressed from Swiss camelina seeds

Update: Naturkostbar has discontinued camelina oil. As an alternative, we have now added the oil from Oelerei Fehraltorf to our range. It is also made from Swiss organic camelina in raw food quality.

This golden-yellow organic camelina oil is obtained from Swiss camelina seeds and pressed at temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius. To maintain the raw food quality, the producer uses a special water-cooled oil mill.

Camelina oil is very rich (approx. 35%) in omega 3 fatty acids, also known as alpha-linolenic acid. In contrast to linseed oil, camelina oil has a much longer shelf life (becomes bitter much less quickly) and still has a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Use of camelina oil

With its wonderful taste, which is reminiscent of peas, camelina oil is ideal for flavouring vegetable dishes, salads and dip sauces.

Like most cold-pressed oils, this camelina oil is sensitive to heat and is therefore primarily suitable for use in cold dishes. Toxic compounds can form when heated to high temperatures, e.g. when frying.

To preserve the quality of the oil for as long as possible, we recommend storing camelina oil in the refrigerator.

Top quality linseed oil from Swiss organic linseed | Fresh, cold-pressed and unfiltered Update: The next linseed oil pressing will take place on Monday 24 February 2025. Please place your pre-order by Sunday evening 23.02.2025. Shipping will take place on Wednesday 26.02.2025 with Post Pack Priority, so delivery should take place on Thursday. You can find all the other order details below. What makes our linseed oil special? Very tasty: Freshly pressed linseed oil does not taste bitter at all (in the first few weeks), but has a mild nutty flavour Organic: The brown organic linseed from producer Jakob Bachofner comes from his own fields in Fehraltorf Pressed chilled: Due to the water cooling of the mill, the oil temperature remains at 28-32°C throughout the pressing process Regional: Fehraltorf is only 10 kilometres away from our warehouse in Wetzikon. Shipping to your home is CO2-neutral with Swiss Post Miron glass: The linseed oil is filled in high-quality bottles made of Miron glass because it offers the best protection of quality. A report by the ProSieben science magazine Galileo has also shown that many products have a longer shelf life and smell better than conventional glass. Watch the interesting report in the following video: Galileo - Video - Violet glass - ProSieben Jakob Bachofner from Oelerei presses the linseed oil from organic linseed from his own fields in Fehraltorf very fresh and with a water-cooled press in raw food quality at 28-32°C - feel the difference. It is not filtered, but left to cool for 1 day so that the lees can settle. The linseed oil is then bottled, taken to the warehouse and dispatched on the same day. There may be a small amount of sediment (slightly darker in colour) at the bottom of the bottles. This can be consumed without hesitation. Why is linseed oil so healthy? With approx. 50% alpha-linolenic acid/omega 3, linseed oil is one of the most potent suppliers of this important fatty acid. Just 1 tablespoon of linseed oil covers the daily requirement of 2g alpha-linolenic acid for an adult. Omega-3 fatty acids are of great importance for our metabolism. They are important building blocks of our cell membranes, have an anti-inflammatory effect, protect the cells against premature ageing and strengthen our immune defences. You can find more interesting information about omega-3 fatty acids in our health guide. Food & for skin care: How to use linseed oil? Fresh linseed oil is a real delicacy! Linseed oil goes perfectly with cold and warm dishes such as salads, potatoes and muesli. It can also be enjoyed pure (1 tablespoon a day). Linseed oil is also suitable for external use on very dry skin. Recipes with linseed oil for inspiration We have been enthusiastic linseed oil consumers ourselves for many years, which is why we are happy to list our favourite recipes here for your inspiration: Raw almond milk with a fresh apple and linseed oil Budwig cream muesli (based on low-fat quark and linseed oil) Goldenmilk with linseed oil Chia pudding with linseed oil Apple and cinnamon porridge with linseed oil Wholemeal bread with cottage cheese, linseed oil and sprouts Vegan mayonnaise with almond butter and linseed oil Gschwellti (jacket potatoes) with linseed oil Potato salad with linseed oil Tomato and onion salad with basil and linseed oil Experiment: Drizzle linseed oil and a little salt over half an avocado. What is your favourite linseed oil recipe? Let us know and we'll be happy to add it to the list. Freshly pressed linseed oil only for pre-orders Due to its sensitivity to heat and short shelf life, we do not keep linseed oil in stock, but only accept pre-orders from September to June, which are then dispatched once a month. During the warmer months, the oil is dispatched with cooling pads. Order process for freshly pressed linseed oil from Swiss linseed To pre-order linseed oil, simply buy it online, send us an email to info@samaranatura.ch or give us a call on 044 586 27 27. On Monday morning, we place our order with Jakob Bachofner from the Oelerei. He presses the linseed oil on Monday. The freshly pressed organic linseed oil then has to rest for a day in the cold store for sedimentation (reduction of the lees). On Wednesday morning, it is bottled and I immediately take the bottles to my social logistician in Wetzikon. He will dispatch all orders (linseed oil with any other items ordered) on Wednesday with Post Pack Priority (without CHF 2 surcharge), so that you should receive your order on Thursday of the same week. Order deadlines autumn/winter/spring 2024/2025 Sunday 23.02.2025Sunday 09.03.2025Sunday 13.04.2025Sunday 18.05.2025Sunday 15.06.2025 Shelf life Minimum shelf life after pressing is 3 months. Please always store the linseed oil in the refrigerator, even before opening the bottle for the first time. This slows down the very rapid oxidation of linseed oil. Our linseed oil is specially bottled in dark purple miron glass to protect it from sunlight and the associated premature oxidation. There are 2 ways to further extend the shelf life: Very modern refrigerators sometimes have a 0-degree zone. Stored there, the linseed oil will keep for about a month longer or you can also freeze it, which extends the shelf life to 6 months. Once opened, the bottle should be consumed within 3-4 weeks. Important notes Linseed oil and camelina oil are not the same thing. While linseed oil is pressed from linseed, camelina oil comes from camelina. Camelina oil has a longer shelf life, but at approx. 35% has a lower alpha-linolenic acid/omega 3 content. Cold-pressed oils (except coconut oil) are sensitive to heat and are therefore mainly suitable for cold cooking. Toxic compounds can form when heated to high temperatures, e.g. frying. Change of bottles Due to the massive price increase of the Mironglas (approx. 40%) and the new closure system with plastic ball, Jakob Bachofner has been looking for alternatives. For the standard edible oil glass bottles, it would have been necessary to purchase a capping machine, which would not have been proportionate for the small quantities produced by the Oelerei in Fehraltorf. Now a BPA-free tinplate bottle in a black matt design from Germany has become the best alternative, see picture above left. The advantages over glass are the lower weight and lower energy consumption in production. In addition, the risk of breakage is significantly lower, which is why less stuffing material is required for shipping. Tinplate has a high recycling rate as it is collected together with aluminium at all material collection points. All other packaging options would have resulted in price increases. We are pleased that we are able to offer linseed oil at the existing prices at a time when almost everything is becoming more expensive. The new 500ml bottles will be introduced in December. With the December pressing, we will also be offering 250ml bottles for CHF 20. This size was requested several times and should be a good compromise between 100ml and 500ml. There are currently still enough of the 100ml Mironglas bottles in stock, which is why the changeover will not take place until spring 2024. Depending on the seed, it contains 10-30% linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acid) and 40-70% alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3 fatty acid), which can be converted by the body into DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Origin Switzerland, chilled pressed by Jakob Bachofner in Fehraltorf with linseed from his own fields in Fehraltorf ZH. Further use of the Miron bottles In principle, the bottles made from the valuable Miron glass can be rinsed out and reused as desired. We recommend leaving the labels on, as they do not come off easily even after a wash in the dishwasher or with petrol. The labels are not water-soluble because the bottles are stored in the refrigerator. Condensation forms when they are removed, which would then remove the label. In addition, a paper label would quickly look dirty if a drop of oil ran down it. According to feedback from the producer, the best way to remove the labels is with orange oil. Local producer Jakob Bachofner from Oelerei in Fehraltorf has been pressing our linseed oil once a month since summer 2021. In addition to the excellent quality, we appreciate the short distance of just 10 kilometres between the oil production facility and our warehouse in Wetzikon. This enables us to send you the linseed oil on the day of bottling (Wednesdays). It couldn't be quicker, unless you select "Pick up at warehouse" as the dispatch method and collect the linseed oil from the warehouse in person on Wednesday afternoons from 3.30 pm. Jakob "Köbi" Bachofner produces all oils with a water-cooled oil mill, certified organic according to the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance CH-BIO-086. Organic hemp oil from Austria
Organic hemp oil - rich in valuable omega-3 fatty acids (100% natural) Update: 39% discount (CHF 9.50 instead of 15.50) on the current batch with a best-before date of 31 March 2025. The hemp oil can still be enjoyed and used for several weeks after this date. The hemp plant produces oily seeds that contain between 25 - 35% oil by weight, which is rich in essential fatty acids (EFA). EFS are fatty acids that humans cannot produce themselves and are dependent on their intake through food. Why consume hemp oil? Hemp oil is an excellent food for the supply of EFS, with linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and the rare gamma-linolenic acid. These fatty acids are required for the production of numerous hormones and for cell renewal. Fatty acids support the functions of the human body to maintain health and contribute to the normal development and growth of the organism. Omega-3 fatty acids are incorporated into the cell membrane and are necessary for its structure and function. Omega-3 fatty acids have an influence on blood lipid regulation. They contribute to health as part of a balanced diet. Hemp oil in comparison with similar products Hemp has an optimal functional ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids for humans, which is considered to be 4:1. Hardly any other plant food source contains the essential fatty acids (EFAs) in such an ideal ratio for the human organism! Although hemp oil is more expensive than hemp seeds, the EFS in the oil are more readily available and easier for the body to metabolise. Since EFS are so important for our nutrition, since most people's bodies do not function optimally and since hemp is such a product rich in vital substances, we think it is a good idea to have both oil and seeds in your daily diet. Hemp oil for skin care The oil can also be used externally for skin care, even if the skin is in poor condition, as it is easily absorbed and moisturising. What makes our cold-pressed organic hemp oil special? Most oils sold in supermarkets are extracted at excessively high temperatures and with solvents and then refined. The oils lack the beneficial properties and contain harmful trans fatty acids as a result of the hydrogenation process. Our hemp oil is gently cold-pressed in Austria from local organic hemp seeds, filled into dark-coloured bottles, sealed and stored in a cool place to preserve the oil's impressive nutritional properties. 1 litre of hemp oil is obtained from 5kg of unpeeled hemp seeds. It has a beautiful green-yellow colour and a nutty, slightly grassy flavour. Please note that oils should be pressed at minimum heat, as the higher the temperature, the faster the oil is destroyed by light, oxygen and other chemical reactions. A change in the fatty acid molecules due to the effect of heat also impairs the nutritional value and biological value of the oil. Use of organic hemp oil in everyday life It is not suitable for frying and should only be used raw. Hemp oil adds a flavourful note to salad dressings, marinades, mayonnaises, dips and spreads. It can be used instead of or together with olive, walnut and safflower oil. The intake for a person with an average build/body fat profile can be 1-3 tablespoons (up to 50ml) per day. Coconut oil organic
Virgin coconut oil - the valuable all-round product Update: Our SamaraNatura coconut oil is unfortunately sold out. To bridge the gap (until the new batch arrives) we are offering coconut oil from Dr Goerg and Naturkostbar. Why buy organic coconut oil? Natural, aromatic flavour Use in the kitchen and for body care High heat stability For weight loss support The wholesome coconut oil with its naturally fragrant, mildly aromatic flavour is a must in the kitchen! A major advantage of coconut oil over other oils is that it is very heat-stable. This makes it ideal for cooking, frying and baking. It also has a long shelf life. Coconut fat does not make you fat and is even said to help you lose weight, as it is immediately converted into energy by the body. The special saturated fatty acids in coconut (so-called MCT fats) - and in particular the high lauric acid content - are of great nutritional benefit. Breast milk also consists largely of these medium-chain fatty acids, which themselves do not contain cholesterol, but promote the production of healthy, vascular-protective HDL cholesterol. Coconut oil also has valuable properties for cosmetics. Coconut oil nourishes and moisturises the skin and hair, promotes well-being, a beautiful appearance and a vital radiance. This is also recognised in Asia, where coconut oil has been used for centuries as a rich source of nutrition, beauty and care products. What makes our coconut oil special? Extraction from fresh fruit flesh Organic certification Gentle processing Coconut palms are ancient cultivated plants and have been cultivated for at least 3000 years. With coconut oil, it is particularly important to pay attention to the quality of the product, as many commercially available coconut fats are industrially hardened and deodorised. For our virgin coconut oil, the flesh of freshly harvested organic coconuts is gently dried for one to two days and then cold-pressed. The result is a coconut oil with a subtle coconut flavour. The coconut oil is certified organic, unbleached, not deodorised and without any additives. The unhydrogenated, unrefined "Virgin Coconut Oil" impresses with its excellent properties and particularly high content of valuable lauric acid. Both sizes (500ml and 1 litre) are filled in a practical, resealable white jar. This can later be used as a storage jar for powders, nuts and much more. Where does our coconut oil come from? The current batch comes from the Philippines. Tips for use: In the kitchen and for body care You can use the oil, which acquires a solid consistency in the fridge, as a butter substitute, spread or for salad dressings, for example. However, due to its fatty acid structure, it can also be used for frying at high temperatures and gives sauces, Asian dishes and other dishes a subtly exotic flavour. Very tasty in desserts and homemade chocolates. Insider tip: A teaspoon of warm coconut oil poured over ice cream. Used as a hair treatment or conditioner, it makes brittle hair supple and shiny. Massage coconut oil into dry hair, leave on for 10-15 minutes and then wash out with a mild shampoo. Coconut oil has a solid consistency at room temperature and begins to melt and turn into oil at around 25 degrees. Cedarnuts Organic
Cedar nuts from Siberia - a treasure of nature Cedar nuts taste similar to other pine nuts, but slightly sweeter and stronger. Unlike almost all commercially available pine nuts, our raw cedar nuts are not heat-treated. Why eat cedar nuts? Cedar nuts contain approx. 55% valuable unsaturated fatty acids, primarily linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid as well as the rare pinoleic/pinolenic acid. They are rich in tocopherols (vitamin E) as antioxidants and in high-quality proteins (approx. 17%). They also contain many minerals (especially magnesium, potassium, phosphorus), trace elements (copper, manganese, zinc), vitamins (K and B) and flavonoids. For centuries, the inhabitants of Siberia have valued the widespread cedar (Pinus sibirica), a Swiss stone pine, not only as a source of valuable wood, but also for its tasty and highly nutritious seeds, which are found in the cedar cones. What makes our cedar nuts special? Almost all commercially available pine nuts are treated with heat to make them last longer. Our cedar nuts, on the other hand, are completely untreated, which preserves the broad spectrum of nutrients. Where do our cedar nuts come from? They come from the Lake Baikal region in Siberia and are harvested by hand. The Siberian pine is a true treasure of Siberian nature, forming vast areas of unspoilt forests throughout northern Russia. The huge, magnificent trees (up to 40 metres tall) grow slowly and the first cones with seeds only appear when the trees are around 30 years old. They are among the longest-lived tree species in existence, as they can live for 300 to 800 years! The evergreen cedar is a storehouse of cosmic light energy, capturing the energy rays from cosmic space in its millions of needles during its long life. Even thousands of years ago, ancient peoples valued the properties of the cedar tree, which they called "the eternal". The brushwood was used to prepare a vitamin drink, the resin was used to heal wounds and ulcers, and the seeds and their oil helped to survive the long, harsh winters in Siberia. How to use cedar nuts in everyday life? Cedar nuts taste delicious on their own as a snack or together with dried fruit and other nuts, goji berries and cocoa nibs. They can be sprinkled on salads and other dishes or added to mayonnaise, creams and milk. Cedar nuts add a certain elegance to your cooking. Cedar nuts and their oil are also very good for skin care and regeneration. We recommend keeping cedar nuts in the fridge after opening, especially in summer. Customer opinion on the product "I really like cedar nuts. I like to mix them with a little water and then create something sweet or savoury from them. Black Cumin Oil organic
Buy black cumin oil | Cold-pressed & certified organic This certified organic black cumin seed oil is extracted from Egyptian Nigella sativa seeds and cold-pressed at below 37°C in the Naturkostbar Manufaktur in Bern. Black cumin seed oil is a very strong oil with a wonderful flavour. Due to its pungent flavour, it is recommended to mix black cumin oil drop by drop with another cold-pressed oil (e.g. olive oil). Why is black cumin oil healthy? Black cumin seed oil has a high-quality fatty acid spectrum. Due to the high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids and the optimum ratio of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, it is a particularly valuable edible oil. Unsaturated fatty acids are essential for our organism, i.e. we must consume them through food. They are an essential component of our cells. Black cumin seed oil also contains a considerable amount of essential oils. The high vitamin E content can protect our cells from oxidative stress. How to use black cumin seed oil? Black cumin seed oil is ideal for flavouring Arabic dishes, sauces and pestos or salad dressings. Also delicious in muesli! As a retailer, we are not allowed to make any health claims, so we recommend researching on the internet or in books for use in allergies, hay fever, psoriasis, immune system, ticks. What should I bear in mind when using black cumin oil? Black cumin oil, like other cold-pressed oils (except coconut oil), is sensitive to heat and is therefore mainly suitable for use in cold dishes. Toxic compounds can be formed when heated to high temperatures, e.g. frying. Origin and processing Black cumin thrives in the dry, hot climate of Egypt. Naturkostbar imports black cumin seeds from certified organic farmers with a special appreciation of nature and works closely with local partners. At the factory in Uetendorf near Thun, the organic black cumin seeds are carefully pressed in a water-cooled oil mill. The cooling prevents heat build-up during pressing and the temperature of the oil remains below 37°C at all times. The black cumin oil is not filtered, but the sedimentation process allows the sediment to settle naturally at the bottom before the oil is bottled. Although this process is more complex and takes considerably longer, it ensures that all the valuable fatty acids, vitamins and flavours are optimally preserved. Two size variants We stock black cumin oil in both 100ml and 250ml bottles. Select "Weight variants" on the right-hand side. Hemp oil Swiss organic
Cold-pressed Swiss organic hemp oil Update: Naturkostbar does not currently have any hemp oil made from Swiss hemp seeds, which is why we bought a small batch from Oelerei in Fehraltorf. It has an expiry date of 31.07.2025. It complements our SamaraNatura hemp oil from Austria in our range. At the Naturkostbar Fanufaktur in Uetendorf near Thun, this hemp oil is pressed from organic hemp seeds from the Bernese Seeland using a water-cooled oil mill (to prevent heat build-up) at temperatures below 37°C. It is rich in omega 3 (alpha 3). It is rich in omega 3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and omega 6 (linoleic acid) fatty acids, which are also in an optimal ratio of 1:3. Hemp is a very undemanding, mostly annual plant. Due to its resilience, it can also be grown very well in Switzerland without pesticides. Except for the rainy summer of 2021, hemp produces very good harvests. Certified organic Swiss producer and seeds Naturkostbar presses only organic seeds into high-quality edible oils using a water-cooled oil mill. Organic certification: BTA CH-BIO-038 In addition to this Swiss hemp oil, we have various other chilled organic edible oils from Naturkostbar in our range. Use of hemp oil With its wonderful flavour, hemp oil is ideal for flavouring vegetable dishes and salads. A homemade salad dressing with hemp oil tastes great and is good for you! Hemp oil is also suitable for use on the skin and hair, as it can have a regenerating and cell-renewing effect. Note 1: Cold-pressed oils (except coconut oil) are sensitive to heat and are therefore mainly suitable for use in cold dishes. Toxic compounds can form when heated to high temperatures, e.g. frying. Sunflower Oil High Oleic Organic Soyana
Cold-pressed high-oleic organic sunflower oil from Soyana This certified organic high-oleic sunflower oil comes from specially cultivated sunflowers. It contains approx. 75% monounsaturated fatty acids and is therefore particularly suitable for heating and frying. Normal sunflower oil, on the other hand, contains only approx. 23% monounsaturated (omega-9 fatty acids), but around 60% polyunsaturated fatty acids. Safflower oil, tree nut oil, pumpkin seed oil and linseed oil also have a high proportion (>50%) of polyunsaturated fatty acids, so-called MUFS. These are essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which the body needs to produce important endogenous substances. Essential means that our body cannot produce these fatty acids itself, which is why we need to consume 19g per day through our diet. The oils mentioned are basically healthy as long as they are not heated. This is because the MUFAs break down and toxic degradation products and free radicals are formed. Therefore, use high-oleic oils (also known as HO or HOLL), coconut oil (contains many saturated fatty acids) or frying butter for frying. You can find a somewhat older but clear article in the Ktipp of 8 September 2009. Production and origin Sunflower oil is produced in Italy. The pressed sunflower seeds come from the European Union. Cedar Nut Oil organic cold-pressed
Cold-pressed organic cedar nut oil - the gold of the taiga The precious, amber-coloured cedar nut oil has been used throughout Russia for centuries. The flavour is pleasantly nutty. In addition, various cosmetics in Russia contain cedar nut oil due to its beneficialproperties for maintaining healthy skin .Cedar nut oil is one of the few oils with a high vitamin E content (approx. 30 mg per 100 g). Vitamin E can help protect cells from oxidative stress. It contains over 26% monounsaturated fatty acids (monounsaturated fatty acids) and over 65% polyunsaturated fatty acids (polyunsaturated fatty acids). We regularly use cedar nut oil in cold dishes because we love the flavour and like to vary the oils a little. What makes Siberian cedar nut oil special? Due to the careful processing and cold pressing of the organic cedar nuts from the Altai Mountains in Siberia, many vital substances are retained. How to use cedar nut oil? The oil tastes particularly delicious with leaf or mixed salads, slightly warm dishes and raw food specialities. Take 1 teaspoon (3 ml) up to 3 times a day. Like most cold-pressed oils, heating significantly damages the quality. It should therefore only be used for cold to slightly warm dishes.
