Rocket Sprout Seeds Rocket seeds cannot be grown on their own, which is why they must be grown together with red clover or alfalfa (our recommendation). The following ratio works very well for growing the sprouts: 1 level teaspoon of rocket and 2 heaped tablespoons of alfalfa, where the seed quantity refers to the sprouting jar for sprouting seeds. However, growing them together is by no means a disadvantage; the delicious rocket sprouts provide a tangy complement to the alfalfa sprouts. Why does rocket need to be grown with alfalfa? Rocket seeds (just like cress) stick together very strongly at the start of the germination process. Growing them on their own would not work. We therefore recommend always growing rocket seeds alongside alfalfa seeds, as their germination times are perfectly matched. Red clover seeds can also be used as an alternative to alfalfa.
