Mix ½-1 teaspoon with water 3 times a day, as an ingredient for smoothies or with fruit and vegetable juices. The antioxidants can scavenge free radicals and highly reactive oxygen compounds and are therefore important for the maintenance and function of cells. The detailed nutritional values are listed below. What makes our spirulina powder special? Our Spirulina Pacifica has been cultivated in Hawaii for over 25 years(video with flight over the plantation) and is regarded as one of the highest quality spirulina in the world. In a special, oxygen-free drying system, the spirulina is dried very gently so that more nutrients and enzymes are retained - e.g. over 40% more ß-carotene and over 75% more zeaxanthin - than is possible with conventional drying systems. Spirulina Pacifica is grown in open ponds 20 cm deep, a few hundred metres from the Pacific Ocean. To fill the ponds, fresh water is mixed with seawater from a depth of 600 metres, which is rich in minerals and trace elements. The other most important substances for cultivation in terms of quantity are food-grade baking powder (sodium bicarbonate) and carbon dioxide. Food-grade fertilisers are also used. Paddle wheels move the water to provide the algae with uniform sunlight for optimal growth conditions and nutrient uptake. Spirulina from Hawaii is grown without pesticides or herbicides and does not contain any genetically modified organisms. Our spirulina is called Spirulina Pacifica and is a selected strain of Spirulina platensis that has developed over many years of cultivation in Hawaii. Spirulina Pacifica was intensively analysed by molecular biologists at the University of Hawaii. They identified new enzymes that were not found in other Spirulina platensis strains. Tips for use in everyday nutrition The powder is most often mixed with fruit and vegetable juices. Spring water is also very good and promotes maximum absorption. Spirulina can also be added to food like a spice to avoid loss of nutrients, but it should only be heated a little. Spirulina has a unique flavour that blends well with almost anything. If you are not used to the flavour of green foods, it may take some getting used to at first. The difference between wild and cultivated blueberries They look almost the same. Both are blue, round and taste great. But what are the differences between these two berries? Wild blueberries compared to cultivated blueberries have a higher vitamin content and a much higher anthocyanin content. Blueberry has become a universal name for blue-coloured berries of the Vaccinium genus, but it is good to know the difference between cultivated blueberries (often called American blueberries or blueberries) and wild blueberries (European blueberries). While cultivated blueberries are grown in various places around the world, wild blueberries grow on small bushes mainly in the northern parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The anthocyanins in the wild blueberry are visible to the eye as blue and red pigments in the flesh, which is juicy and bluish-purple in colour. The cultivated blueberry, on the other hand, has an almost transparent white and somewhat floury flesh. The wild blueberry has certainly been used since the 16th century, both the dried berries and the leaves. Modern interest stems in part from the use of the fruit by British pilots during the Second World War, when pilots noticed that their night vision was better on bombing missions after eating bilberry jam. Nowadays, only garden blueberries (American blueberries) from cultivation are available, which are simply not as good and significantly less rich in vital substances than wild blueberries. Fo-Ti powder – Ancient Chinese tonic (100% natural) Fo-Ti is a very popular and highly prized plant in China. Fo-Ti powder is made from the tuberous root of the plant, which grows in the mountains of central and southern China. Along with the goji berry, it is one of the most popular natural products. Fo-Ti is also known as‘He Shou Wu’   , which literally means ‘Mr He with black hair’, referring to an ancient story in which a Mr He was able to restore his vitality, sexual potency and youthful appearance by consuming the plant. Millions of men and women in the Far East use He Shou Wu; they take it for its invigorating properties. Why consume Fo-Ti? The tea has a slightly sweet, earthy flavour and is truly excellent, even as iced tea! If you still don’t like Fo-Ti tea, you can also mix the root powder into your favourite drink. We particularly enjoy drinking Fo-Ti tea during stressful times. What makes our organic Fo-Ti (He Shou Wu) powder special? Our Fo-Ti is processed using traditional methods and is therefore not a raw food product. It is made by slicing the roots shortly after harvest and boiling them in a black bean broth. The roots prepared in this way are then dried and ground into a fine powder. The powder is 100% organic Fo-Ti powder. Some producers also add soya sauce during the cooking process. However, this is not the case with our Fo-Ti powder.  Fo-Ti has been produced in this way for around 1,500 years. This method of preparation gives the root its particularly energising properties. At the Naturkostbar Fanufaktur in Uetendorf near Thun, this hemp oil is pressed from organic hemp seeds from the Bernese Seeland using a water-cooled oil mill (to prevent heat build-up) at temperatures below 37°C. It is rich in omega 3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and omega 6 (linoleic acid) fatty acids, which are also in an optimal ratio of 1:3. Hemp is a very undemanding, mostly annual plant. An ancient food and one of the last products cultivated by the Incas, they have been undergoing a worldwide rediscovery in recent years. The delicious, sweet and sour berries grow in protective paper-like shells that look like small Chinese lanterns. Why we love Inca berries Inca berries have an exquisite, exotic, sweet and sour flavour that is second to none. A delicious snack. Connoisseurs like to enjoy them with chocolate products and wine. The Inca berry is also known as the "goji berry of South America". The small, chewable seeds of the Andean berries have a slightly laxative effect. Irish moss is thought to contain at least 15 essential elements that are key components of the human body. Some of the elements found in the algae, which are present in impressive quantities: Calcium, potassium, iodine and vitamins such as A, D and E. The main health benefits of Irish moss are due to its high carrageenan content (up to 71%). This substance has been used for centuries as a traditional medicine to make medicinal teas and cough syrups to combat colds, bronchitis and even hangovers after excessive alcohol consumption. We appreciate that Irish Moss soothes the digestive and respiratory tracts and is excellent for sensitive guts and stomachs. Ideal food for sensitive people. Irish moss is the main source of carrageenan, which is used as a vegan thickening agent in many products and recipes and has recently been patented as an antiviral agent. Use of Irish moss | Recipe recommendation The basic jelly made from Irish moss contains all the minerals and nutrients of the plant and can be used in delicious desserts. The basic jelly is made as follows: Soak 20g of Irish moss in a bowl of cold water for 30-60 minutes and then rinse. Pour 9dl of water and the soaked Irish moss into a pan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 to 60 minutes. Stir from time to time to ensure the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan. The Irish moss will break into pieces and the mixture will become gelatinous. While the mixture is still warm, remove any fragments that have not yet dissolved and pour the gel into sterilised bottles and keep in the fridge. Use a spoonful in desserts, soups, stews, sauces, smoothies or dissolve in water for a soothing tea (add your favourite spices). It will keep in the fridge for several weeks. When it starts to smell slightly spicy, the mixture is spoilt and can no longer be used. Irish moss is also excellent to apply to the skin: for burns, chapped skin, eczema and cold sores.
